Atlantic Catechetical Association Conference

From Friday, May 24 to Sunday, May 26 at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Grenfell Campus in Corner Brook, the Diocese of Corner Brook and Labrador will be hosting a conference for those involved in catechesis throughout the Atlantic Region.   The word catechesis literally means “to echo” the faith, to provide opportunities for faith development and faith formation.  A conference such as this is held every two years throughout Atlantic Canada.  This year’s theme is Building Communities of Faith – Re-discovering Our Cornerstones.

The Plenary speakers are Sister Sheila O’Dea, a Sister of Mercy from St. John’s NL and Leisa Anslinger from Ohio in the United States.  Both of these ladies bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of catechesis.  In addition to the plenary speakers, there are four educators and catechists from Atlantic Canada leading smaller focus sessions throughout the weekend on the topics of Evangelization and the Catechist, Social Media in Catechesis, Living your Faith in the Real Word and Becoming a More Welcoming Church. These educators/catechists are Bishop Brian Dunn of Antigonish Diocese, Trevor Droesbeck of the Archdiocese of Moncton, Ann Walsh of the Archdiocese of St. John's and Father A nthony O'Connor of Antigonish Diocese.

Please join in praying for God's blessings on this conference - on the members of the organizing committee, on the presenters and on all of the participants.
