90th Birthday Celebration

Monsignor White was born in St. George's, NL on September 19, 1923.

He attended local schools and then completed his high-school studies at St. Bonaventure's College in St. John's, NL.

He studied at St. Augustine's Seminary in Toronto and was ordained to the Priesthood by Bishop Michael O'Reilly (who also baptized him) at St. Joseph's Church in St. George's on April 8, 1951.

In his career as a priest, Monsignor White served first as Assistant Priest in Corner Brook, then as parish priest of the parishes of Piccadilly, St. Ann's (Codroy Valley), Stephenville Crossing, Rector of the Cathedral in Corner Brook and St. Columcille's (St. Fintan's).

During his varied career, Monsignor served on the Board of Directors of St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, the Catholic Education Committee and on various school boards.

He has a keen  interest in history and to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the St. George's Diocese he compiled a history of the diocese.
