Life-Giving Love

The threat of legalized euthanasia and assisted suicide in Canada remains very real, as evidenced by several recent events. On June 5, 2014, the Quebec National Assembly legalized euthanasia by calling it “medical aid in dying”, making it appear to be a form of medical treatment. On July 17, a court challenge was launched to overturn this Bill.  On October 15, the Supreme Court of Canada will hear the Carter case, an appeal launched by the British Columbia Civil Liberties Association which, if successful, could grant terminally ill Canadians the right to assisted suicide.

A special website (www.lifegivinglove.com) has been created which provides access to all of the campaign materials.  Included in these materials is a video in which the President of the CCCB, the Most Reverend Paul-André Durocher, introduces the Life-Giving Love campaign, a copy of the brochure produced by COLF and the CCCB entitled “Life-Giving Love”, a video produced by the Living with Dignity Network and the Alliance of Physicians Against Euthanasia, a prayer card, some suggestions for action items and some quotes from Church documents regarding end-of –life issues.
