In a decision made on February 6, 2015, the Supreme Court of Canada struck down Canada’s assisted-suicide law, giving the Government of Canada one year to create a new law to replace it. In response, the Government has established an External Panel, the mandate of which is to consult Canadians and key stakeholders on issues which the federal government will need to consider in developing new legislation. As part of its consultative process, the Panel has launched a series of online tools, including an interactive questionnaire, which all Canadians can use to learn more about euthanasia and assisted-suicide and to express their opinions to the Panel. The questionnaire became available on September 1 and will close on October 11.
