Time for Creation

The proposal to celebrate a Time for Creation was made by the Third European Ecumenical Assembly in Sibiu in 2007. This would be a five-week period, beginning on September 1 (the Orthodox commemoration of God’s creation) and ending on October 4(the celebration of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi).

Catholics are encouraged to organize prayer and practical initiatives to combat the environmental crisis facing our planet and to reflect on the ways our lifestyles impact the environment.
