Our Lady of Mercy Complex Committee is the new lessee of Our Lady of Mercy Church Property

Our Lady of Mercy Complex Committee is the new

Lessee of Our Lady of Mercy Church Property

The Our Lady of Mercy Complex Committee has signed a lease agreement with the Diocese of Corner Brook and Labrador for the use of the Our Lady of Mercy Church property and buildings located in Port au Port West.

Upon hearing that the Gravels Development Group would be ending their lease of the Our Lady of Mercy Church property as of November 30th of this year, the Our Lady of Mercy Complex Committee came together in an effort to prevent the closure and/or private sale of this historic church property. Composed of people who have deep rooted ties to this church, the committee stated in their written proposal to lease the property that, building on the Gravel Development Group's efforts, they felt it was now their turn to take on the responsibility of maintaining these buildings and property as a focal point of the Port au Port and greater Bay St. George area.

Representatives of the Diocese and of the Gravels Development Group expressed pleasure with the proposal presented by the Our Lady of Mercy Complex Committee for the ongoing maintenance and management of this property and its buildings. Both the Diocese and the Gravels Development Group have agreed to do what they can to assist the Complex Committee in beginning their work as the new lessees of this property.
