Collection for the Needs of the Church in Canada

In his letter to the parishes across the country, the Most Reverend Lionel Gendron, P.S.S., Bishop of Saint-Jean-Longueuil and President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), notes how this collection "allows all the Catholic faithful to express their solidarity with their diocese/epachy and also provides an opportunity to support the work of their regional episcopal assembly as well as the national mission of our Conference.”

This past year has been a busy one for the CCCB, which was involved in a number of issues, including the on-going work of the CCCB Palliative Care Working Group; indigenous issues, including, among others,  a make-over of the Canadian Catholic Indigenous Council, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2018and continued efforts to establish a renewed relationship with Indigenous People based on meaningful events of reconciliation, such as participation in eight listening circles across the country; and the completion of a new document  presenting expanded guidelines to protect minors from sexual abuse. A Canadian delegation attended the recent World Meeting of Families in Ireland and a delegation will attend the Synod on Youth, the Faith and Vocational Discernment.
