Ordination and Installation of Bishop Bart van Roijen

Welcome and congratulations to Bishop Bart van Roijen on the occasion of his ordination and installation as Bishop of the Diocese of Corner Brook and Labrador. The ceremony of ordination and installation took place at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer and of the Immaculate Conception on Mount Bernard Avenue in Corner Brook on Thursday, December 12 at 7pm.

As a part of the ceremony, greetings were extended to Bishop van Roijen by the following: Archbishop Luigi Bonazzi representing the Holy Father, Brendan Mitchell representing the Aboriginal peoples of the diocese, Bernd Staeben, representing the laity, Sister Rosalie Carey, PBVM, representing the religious of the diocese and Rev. Gabriel Selvanathan, MF, representing the priests of the diocese.

Immediately following the Mass, a reception was held at the Civic Centre to allow the people of the diocese an opportunity to meet and welcome their new bishop.

Bishop Bart van Roijen is the third bishop of the Diocese of Corner Brook and Labrador. The Diocese of Corner Brook and Labrador, created in 2006, united the former diocese of St. George's with the Labrador portion of the former Labrador City-Schefferville diocese.

Please pray for God’s blessings upon Bishop van Roijen as he begins his new ministry as Bishop of our Diocese.
