A Century of Faith

A Century of Faith

Our Lady of Lourdes Parish has reached a milestone of one hundred years. With renovations and expansions, the vitality of this Parish continues to be rich, serving as a model for what small communities can do when they work together. Founded in 1912, it consists of six communities on the Port au Port Peninsula: West Bay, Black Duck Brook, Winterhouse, Lourdes, Three Rock Cove, and Mainland.

A full octave (eight days) of celebrations were had by the Parish, with visits from the Bishop, crêpe cafés, music, a bonfire, and more! At the heart and soul of the celebrations was, of course, the Mass, where Christ comes to His people to give them the fortitude and faith to carry on. May the Lord Bless Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, always.

St. Bernadette, that young girl who saw the Blessed Virgin in Lourdes, France, herself said, “I shall do everything for Heaven, my true home. There I shall find my Mother in all the splendor of her glory. I shall delight with her in the joy of Jesus himself in perfect safety.” This Parish seems to live out the spirit of her words.
