Pastoral Letter from Bishop Hundt

Dear People of the Diocese,

Last October Pope Benedict announced a special Year of Faith beginning on October 11, 2012 and ending on November 24, 2013. It is to be a special time for growing in our appreciation of the gift of faith, for deepening our relationship with God and for strengthening our commitment to sharing faith with others.

In his Apostolic Letter announcing this Year of Faith, the Pope wrote: “Faith grows when it is lived as an experience of love received and when it is communicated as an experience of grace and joy.”  Further on in the letter he stated: “What the world is in particular need of today is the credible witness of people enlightened in mind and heart by the word of the Lord and capable of opening the hearts and minds of many to the desire for God and for true life, life without end.”

Please join with me in praying that,  through our participation in this Year of Faith, we will be blest to live our faith as an experience of love received and will be  “credible witnesses”, capable of opening the hearts and minds of others to the gift of faith through their experience of God’s grace and joy in us.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Bishop Peter Hundt
