     Title: 2018 CCCB Plenary Assembly

The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) will hold its annual Plenary Assembly at the Nav Canada Centre, Cornwall, Ontario, in the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall  from September 24-28, 2018. The meeting will be chaired by the Most Reverend Lionel Gendron, P.S.S., Bishop of Saint-Jean-Longueuil and President of the CCCB. This year's Plenary Assembly marks the opening of the CCCB's 75th anniversary year, with special anniversary activities taking place during the Plenary as well as throughout the year. Please pray for Bishop Hundt and his brother Bishops as they embark on these important meetings.

The agenda for this year’s Plenary Assembly will include presentation and/or discussions on topics such as the activities of the palliative care working group, the continued progress toward reconciliation with Canada’s Indigenous Peoples, the proposed interventions by the CCCB delegates during the upcoming Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops (October 3-28, 2018). The Bishops will also discuss the update to the CCCB’s document on the protection of minors. This document, which  has been prepared by an ad hoc committee with contributions by external experts working in related professions (psychology, social work, child protection) and victims, is expected to be released this fall.

Salt + Light TV will broadcast live online and on television the annual report by the President of the CCCB, the daily liturgical celebrations of the Plenary Assembly and the daily media briefings. A broadcast schedule is available on the CCCB website.
