The Diocese is in an enviable position this year, given its opportunities for celebration. In addition to the arrival of Bishop Hundt, and on top of the joys that naturally come with the many feasts of the Holy Catholic Church, many individuals are celebrating significant Jubilees of service.

A great fun-filled learning adventure!

This year’s camp was held from July 31 – August 2 at Killdevil Camp in Lomond which is at the beginning of Gros Morne National Park.

2011 Atlantic Catechetical Association Conference

 Thirteen people from our diocese attended this conference in Moncton, NB from May 27 – 29, 2011.    The keynote speakers were Dr. Reginald Bibby, widely recognized as one of Canada’s foremost experts on social and religious trends, and Ms. Carol Kuzmochka, Director of the Centre for Ministry Formation at St. Paul's University, Ottawa.

  

The work of the Holy Spirit

The titles given to the Holy Spirit must surely stir the soul of anyone who hears them, and make him realize that they speak of nothing less than the supreme Being. Is he not called the Spirit of God, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, the steadfast Spirit, the guiding Spirit? But his principal and most personal title is the Holy Spirit.

It is an opportunity to explore Christianity with good company, good food, great videos, lots of questions, lively discussion, and no pressure.

 

On Holy Saturday night in churches throughout the world Catholics gather together and wait in the dark. They wait in the dark for the most joyous celebration of the liturgical year to begin with a spark, a spark jumping out into the dark of the night to ignite the fire that will then be blessed and used to light the new Paschal candle.

The installation ceremony took place before a full congregation at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer and of the Immaculate Conception on Mount Bernard Avenue, Corner Brook on Wednesday, April 13 at 7pm.
